Chuck Stopani
My name is Chuck Stopani and I would like to welcome you to my family here at Daglio's. The word FAMILY is something that I am very proud of. I came from a strong restaurant family myself. My parents have owned many restaurants, bars and nightclubs here in Tucson and in western New York. You could say that I was raised in the business. I was born in Rochester, New York and moved to Tucson when I was fourteen. I attended Sahuaro High School where I was involved with student government, the community and the athletic program. I lettered in four sports; track, gymnastics, soccer and football. I attended Scottsdale Community College on a football Scholarship, and later Northern Arizona University. While in college I worked as a bartender, waiter, busboy, dishwasher, host and manager in both Tucson and Flagstaff. In 1991 I moved back to Tucson and started coaching high school football at Santa Rita High. I was the head J.V. coach in both football and soccer for three years before jumping over to Sahuaro as a varsity assistant for the Cougars football program. I spent two years at Sahuaro and one at Tucson High.
I opened my first restaurant in 1993 with the help of my mother and father. We named it Stopani's Italian-American Restaurant on East 22nd Street. I honed my culinary skills in our kitchen at home. My mother and father always insisted on the best food for any receipe. You are part of that receipe. I expect and our customers expect the best food we can bring to you - That is my goal. I sold Stopani's in 2004 and opened Daglio's at Campbell and Glenn with a close friend, Frank Santos. We came up with the name Daglio's from my beautiful wife Brenda. She was picking names for our soon-to-be child and one of the names was Daglio. Fortunately, we gave birth to a bouncing baby girl (Jilliana Sophia). We liked the name(Daglio) so much that we named our new sandwich shop after it. A year later we had a beautiful little boy named Santino Joseph. You can name a business after your kid, but you can't name your kid after a business. Thus, Daglio's started and after three years moved to Broadway and Pantano. Frank Santos still has a place on Campbell, but is no longer affiliated with Daglio's. Now back to FAMILY. I will treat YOU, our valued customers, as part of my family and will always be accessible to you. I, in turn, expect you to think of Daglio's as your personal eastcoast restaurant. I will entertain any suggestions and feedback. Welcome to my family!
